- Reiki never guarantees healing. However, Reiki healing session is miraculous despite the doubts of those trapped in the physical world. Another strength of Reiki is that it does not require “faith.” Reiki healing is not some abstract idea and can be experienced first-hand by anyone.
- A Reiki healing will always do good and can never be used for harm. Reiki energy has an innate intellect and always works for the greater good of the recipient of the Reiki healing energy.
- Some people wonder what a Reiki healing feels like. Recipients report warm sensations and also tingling during the Reiki healing session. Some people report many combinations of feeling more vibrant, relaxed and refreshed after a session. Reiki healing sessions can also bring about sensations of comfort and peacefulness.
- A Reiki healing session usually lasts about an hour and is often performed on a massage table or massage chair. A short session can also be done with the recipient sitting in a chair or in a relaxed positions and will often last around twenty minutes. Some practitioners average 90 minutes or more per session. Takata Sensei is reported to have given very long sessions, some lasting 2 to 3 or more hours. From what I have seen, if Reiki finishes healing one part of the body, it just moves on to another part. And if there is no major dis-ease in the body for the Reiki energy heal, the energy will still flood the whole body and begin working on etheric or higher layers of the body’s aura. Anyone can benefit from a Reiki healing whether they are suffering from a an illness or not.
- A Reiki healing session is done fully-clothed, however, loose-fitting or comfortable clothing is recommended. There is never a need to undress or disrobe when receiving a Reiki session and a Reiki session will never involve any direct touching of "private" areas on the body. Reiki can even be done through a cast or from a distance if the recipient has difficulties with human touch, such as recent burn victims or sexual abuse survivors. Sometimes it is helpful to remove things that constrict the body such as, neck ties, chokers, bracelets, shoes or rings if any of them are tight fitting or uncomfortable. Some people don’t like removing their wedding ring or other piece of jewelry and that's okay. Remember to always do what makes you feel comfortable. Never remove anything that makes you feel less comfortable.
- A Reiki healing session must always have the full consent of the recipient and the parent or guardian when working with children. There are times when consent is not available, like when working with people who are in comas or are otherwise unavailable for direct communication. In these cases the Reiki practitioner must use their own inner guidance to determine whether the recipient is willing to accept the Reiki healing energy.
- Anyone can receive a Reiki healing. The cost of a session is often similar to the cost of a massage session of similar duration. If fact, at some high end Spas, Reiki is offered among the several modalities provided, e.g. Shiatsu acupressure, Swedish massage, Thai massage. etc..
- Reiki healing can also be obtained for free in some cases. Many Reiki schools or organizations provide distant Reiki sessions for small donations or for free and set-up the sessions like “prayer request lines.”
